Various videos from The Eagle You have to love the sound of the V8, TT's just don't quite have it. Unfortunately the sound quality tends to be compromised by wind noise as I pretty much always drive with the windows down. I have added the wind deflectors, so sound gets a bit better after the first runs, but I need to try more things to just get it right. DivX I have converted some High Quality videos to the DivX format. If you can't play it, go to http://www.divx.com/divx and download the free player - Windows, Mac and Linux versions are available. I will be using this format for all future high quality videos it is so good. 17/09/03 Full trip down, not too fast so you can see the road. You can hear it hit the redline just after the start, the pub is on the left just as I do the U-turn. Low quality 4.8Mb (asf)High Quality 8.5Mb (wmv) 01/11/03 Some practice on one of the turns, mainly for Ben who was using the camera for the first time. There were a number of motor bikes doing hot laps and generally making a lot of noise, sure enough the police turned up. We parked on a turnoff and were talking about how to do the shots when the cop pulled up, figured we were up to no good hiding behind the bushes and waiting for him to go away! He was a good bloke however, we explained that we were there for photo's not hooning (coff) and he was really good about it. Up-1 Went in a little bit hot, you can hear me back off a tad towards the exit. Low Quality 381 Kb (asf)High Quality 1.5Mb (DivX)Up-3 You can hear the exhaust kick a bit as the wheels spin on the exit. Low Quality 220 Kb (asf)High Quality 1.01Mb (DivX)Down-2 What goes up must come down. Low Quality 374 Kb (asf)High Quality 1.6 Mb (DivX)Down-3 A couple of hot-4's were trying... Low Quality 413 Kb (asf)High Quality 1.7 Mb (DivX)02/11/03 Different corner, different camera operator, getting the camera operator to take a longer clip. Met up with the same nice policeman that was there yesterday, had another chat, then did our shoots while he was parked just down a couple of bends. I had to go past him to turn around, he waved each time, as I floored it past him going back up. One of the nice things about The Eagle is that it is rated at 80 KPH, so you don't have to excessively break the speed limit, well maybe just a little. All of these runs were done in 2nd gear. I used a higher resolution for recording today. The video image is now bigger and clearer, runs full screen pretty well. This one you can hear the car under steer coming in, then it switches to over steer as I apply power. You don't really hear the tyres squeal going out as the exhaust noise takes over, but you can hear the engine revs kick up a little then back down again as I regain full traction out of the bend. Much better control than yesterday. Low Quality 441 KbHigh Quality 1.8 Mb (wmv)Going down, not driving hard, but you can hear the lovely growl on overrun. High Quality 900 Kb (wmv) |
